Once a year, hundreds of locations across the city throw open their doors to celebrate all the things that make New York City so special. And of course, the Church of the Transfiguration is one of them! Please join us October 19-20 for a series of special events here at the Little Church, the Episcopal Actors’ Guild and Houghton Hall Arts Community! Here is the schedule, no reservations necessary. Saturday, October 19th

10:15 a.m. Tour of the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church of the Transfiguration

11:45 a.m. Family Concert by Dr. Claudia Dumschat, Director of Music, performing some best-loved organ pieces on our magnificent Fisk organ, with special activities for children

12:30 p.m. Tour of the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church of the Transfiguration

1:15 – 4:00 p.m. Theatre Archives Open The Episcopal Actors’ Guild and its Archives Committee invite you to view a unique display of original, historic materials related to the church and to the lives of many famous actors of the 19th and 20th centuries.

2:15 p.m. Tour of the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church of the Transfiguration

3:00 p.m. Piano Concert by world-renowned artist Matei Varga playing our sumptuous Bosendorfer grand piano (once owned by William F. Buckley!). He will perform pieces by Scarlatt, Schubert, Mozart, and Brahms.

Sunday, October 20th

1:00 p.m. Theatre Tour of the Church with special emphasis on its history with the theatre community and the famous actors who have been associated with the Church (including the legendary story of how we became “The Little Church Around the Corner”).

2:00 p.m. Concert “Celebration of Song” with the Episcopal Actors’ Guild will be A Tribute to Broadway, the Street of Dreams, featuring beloved show tunes and stories from EAG members, Broadway actors, and a sing-along with the audience, too!

3:30 p.m. Tour (in Spanish) of the History, Art, and Architecture of the Church, followed by a bi-lingual reception and a Spanish-language mass at 5:00 p.m.

5:00-8:00 p.m. Songwriter Rounds at Houghton Hall Arts Community, our new rehearsal and teaching space for the performing arts. Join us for Nashville Style Songwriter Rounds, where songwriters showcase their original tunes and the stories behind them! NOTE: Enter around the corner at 22 East 30th Street.
