Music At Transfiguration
Music has always been a vital element of the church’s Anglo-Catholic worship style. Soon after the church was founded, The Rev. George Houghton established the Choir of Men and Boys , the oldest such choir in America. The choir sings a vast repertoire of liturgical music appropriate to the day. In recent years, the church established a Girls Choir and a Cherub Choir. The choirs will be performing at our Choir Benefit on May 6.
The church houses the Arnold Schwartz Memorial Organ, one of the finest organs in the country. Its concert series hosts world class artists and seeks to bring great sacred music to the community. The church also hosts the Midday Music concerts, which take place every Tuesday at 12:30 in the fall and spring, as well as a series of summer concerts.
